Our Movers

Larry & Christie

Larry & Christie

Involved with moving boats since 1968, Larry is both our tactician and master boat mover. He'll take the time planning the giant moves, and when it's time, the whole project happens as designed. Being part Hawaiian, he appears laid back, but don't let that fool you. He's designed some of our very specialized equipment, and his mind is always going a mile a minute. When Larry moves your boat, you know it's been done by the best. Larry's wife, Cristie, brings a wealth of artistic and organizational skills to the business. She's also been known to bake a mean batch of cookies for those long road trips!
Linda

Linda

When you call San Diego Boat Movers, Linda will probably be the first person you talk to and she'll also be the one to handle all the many details involved in your move, from start to finish. Linda is a master of multi-tasking and communication, traits essential to keep your oversize load or super load rolling through a mountain of permits, regulations, and routing concerns. Linda used to help her husband, Jack, load boats and she drove the pilot car on cross-country moves, so she understands all facets of the business. With Linda coordinating your move, you can feel confident you're being managed by the best.
Gil

Gil

A co-owner of San Diego Boat Movers for almost 20 years, Gil sold his interest in the company to partner, Larry, in a futile attempt at semi-retirement. After restoring his Model A truck (again), and attending to other very important projects, he has decided he misses the excitement of boat moving and is back doing moves and managing the equipment. Gil is extremely knowledgeable about all size moves, so we're very happy he loves what he's doing.
Vic

Vic

Vic started young in the transport business, working at his father's permit service, providing routing and permits for oversize loads. With that training, and a knack for properly loading boats, and a mind-set for safety, Vic quickly became one of our best long haul movers. From a 181' boat mast to a 20' high boat, he's done it all. As the designated jokester, he's turned our hair white a few times. He left for Texas with a boat, then called in later to advise that he was in Seattle, and "where should he deliver it?" After we recovered, we were pleased to find out that he was really somewhere in Arizona, and well on his way to Texas. He's very serious about what he does, but be prepared to have your leg pulled if he moves your boat!
Jack

Jack

Jack previously owned his own boat transport business, so he's highly qualified to handle any of our long haul moves. Jack too is a master of ramp-load, large houseboat moves. Should you have a houseboat to move, call us and we'll see if we can have Jack help you out.
Bill

Bill

Our on-call engineer and equipment fabrication specialist, Bill is an expert at structural design, mechanical engineering, and just plain figuring out how to build a piece of equipment to achieve it's intended purpose. He's built many large steel fishing boats in our yard, and we feel very fortunate to have him available to help us with our specialized equipment needs. On top of all that, he has a great sense of humor!
Brett

Brett

Our Kiwi boat mover, he talks funny and has strange colloquialisms that he has to explain to us, but is excellent at moving boats. Given that, we forgive him all his strange ideas and habits. Having grown up in New Zealand, the land of sailors, he loves boats and knows how they need to be handled.
Model A

Model A

This is our favorite pilot car, or maybe, with it's blown 327, it would serve us better on big moves as a decoy---like Burt Reynolds' Trans Am in 'Smokey and the Bandit'. Gil's pride and joy is a 'slightly' modified 1928 Model A Ford pick-up with a bed full of car show trophies.
